Christ Church - Uniting People to God and People to People

Our Focus, Beliefs & Worship Style

The fundamental teachings of Christ Church are reflected in the following abbreviated doctrinal statements.

We believe that all Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, was given by inspiration of God as the writers were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the very words of God and that the Scriptures are the only rule of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

One We believe in the one true God head who has revealed Himself as existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit: distinguishable but indivisible (Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:21-22).
two We believe in the creation, test, and fall of man as recorded in the book of Genesis; his total spiritual depravity and inability to attain divine righteousness (Romans 5:12, 18).

three We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of men, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, very God and very man (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6).

four We believe in the bodily Ascension of Jesus to heaven, His exaltation and personal, literal and bodily return to second time for the Church (John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

five We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we obtain remission of sins (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12; Romans 5:11).

six We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the name the Eternal Godhead in order to fulfill the command of Christ (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:36-39, 19:1-6).

seven

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the promise of the Father, for the empowering of the Christian and His accompanying gifts and fruit (Acts 2:1-4, 8:14-17, 10:44-46; Galatians 3:14-15).

Worship Style
Our desire is to achieve a rewarding experience each time we worship God corporately. The bible instructs believers to utilize various postures of worship, some of which are listed below.

Why do we lift our hands?
We lift our hands to bless and praise the Lord (Psalm 134:2; 1Timothy 2:8).

Why do we dance?
We dance to express our joy for our king, Jesus (Psalm 149:3; Psalm 150:4).

Why do we prophesy?
We prophesy to strengthen, encourage and comfort the Church (1 Corinthians 14:3-4; 2 Kings 3:15-19).

Why do we speak in tongues and interpret?
We speak in tongues to interpret the message from God in an unknown language into the known language of the local congregation (1Corinthians 12:7, 10; 14:5).

Why are musical instruments a part of the worship?
Musical instruments are part of the worship so that we can make a joyful noise unto the Lord (Psalm 149:3; Psalm 150:3-5).

Why do we sing "prophetic" and "new songs"?
We sing to share a musical message from God for the purpose of building up the church (Revelation 5:9-11; Colossians 3:16).
